In recent years, static key art has been relegated almost exclusively to print applications. If it can be displayed on a screen, it's expected to move. This paradigm shift happened quickly, but HBO was ready to lead the way in launching key art campaigns that brought motion to the traditional marketing mainstay. With most of HBO's key art coming from outside agencies, it was often left to our in-house Design team (aka – me and a motion designer) to take their static image assets and find ways to bring them to life.
